 　　The voice of spring 春之声

　　I am coming, little maiden¹! 我来了，小姑娘！

　　With the pleasant sunshine laden², 满我着暖暖的阳光，

　　With the honey for the bee, 这花蜜要给蜂儿采，

　　With the blossom for the tree, 那花么要给大树栽，

　　With the flower and with the leaf; 还有朵朵鲜花，片片绿叶；

　　Till I come, the time is brief. 脚步近了，已然听得真切。

　　I am coming, I am coming! 我来了，我来了！

　　Hark! the little bee is humming; 听！小蜜蜂正在歌唱，

　　See! the lark³ is soaring high 看！云雀飞得高高，

　　In the bright and sunny sky; 直上晴日下的碧霄，

　　And the gnats⁴ are on the wing, 小虫子也借着翅膀，

　　Wheeling round in airy ring. 在空中一圈圈晃荡。

　　See! the yellow catkins cover 看那黄色的柳絮

　　All the slender willows⁵ over; 布满纤细的柳条；

　　And on banks of mossy green 看那遍布草色的河岸

　　Star-like primroses⁶ are seen; 是报春花，星般闪耀；

　　And, their clustering leaves below, 而叶丛下的紫罗兰，

　　White and purple violets blow. 有白有紫，分外妖娆

　　Hark! the new-born-lambs are bleating⁷; 听！新生的小羊咩咩叫，

　　And the cawing rooks are meeting 榆树上，秃鼻子的乌鸦们

　　In the elms—a noisy crowd! 在召开大会，争争吵吵，

　　All the birds are singing loud; 每一只鸟儿放声高歌，

　　And the first white butterfly 第一只雪白的蝴蝶

　　In the sunshine dances by. 在阳光下翩翩舞蹈

　　Look around thee—look around! 你呀，快些举目四望！

　　Flowers in all the fields abound⁸; 片片原野都有鲜花初放，

　　Every running stream is bright; 流动的小溪闪着全光，

　　All the orchard⁹ trees are white, 园中的果树一片洁白，

　　And each small and waving shoot 小芽在风中竞相摇摆。

　　Promises sweet flowers and fruit. 许诺着香花甜果的未来

　　Turn thine eyes to earth and heaven! 一双瞅看向天与地，

　　God for thee the Spring has given; 春天的帷幕，已然揭起；

　　Taught the birds their melodies, 是上帝教给鸟儿歌唱，

　　Clothed the earth, and cleared the skies 妆扮了泥土，扫净了阴霾。

　　For thy pleasure or thy food: 大自然给了我们快乐和面包，

　　Pour thy soul in gratitude¹⁰! 我的感恩之心，也要涌泉相报！

1 maiden   

n.少女，处女；adj.未婚的，纯洁的，无经验的

2 laden

3 lark
