Finding a Partner
Dialogue 1 A:Our next project is to find a partner on the American side, for a new product line?we'd really like to open up the global market, but with the risk associated with emerging1 in a new market ,joint2 venture is the wait go.
B:I totally agree with you,but we found that it's really difficult to find a suitable match,we've approached several different companies about the possibility of work together, but we've had trouble negotiating3 agreements that are mutually beneficial.
A:I agree, the hardest part isn't finding American companies who are interested in paring up,with the way the china's economy is sky rocketing now, everyone wants a piece of the pie,the hardest part of the whole thing is negotiating and agreement.
B:So how do we go about finding a partner for joint venture then?
A:Some of the best ways are participating in conferences and trade chorus, that's a really good way of making connections and networking with companies from all over the world, also inquiries4 over the internet are sometimes fulfilled well.
B:For our next project, we've got a couple of contacts with a great potential that we can do some following upon. We've set a few inquiry5 emails out ,but there's no news back on the jet.
A:Well,we've just got to keep it up,eventually, we'll find someone who is interested in progress as we are.
Dialogue 2 A:Did you send us the inquiry emails to the contacts we made the conference last week?
B:Yes,but i haven't heard anything back yet,i send them over a week ago,but there's no answer from anyone yet.
A:Really, that's unusual, most times doesn't take that long to at least send a knowledge email back.Especially when they aren't called contacts,as if we've just found the information of website, all people that we might face to face the conference, did you remember to reference6 the conference of your email?
B:Yeah,i did,i don't know why is taking so long to hear back.
A:What did you say in the email?
B:You know, the usual.I mentioned meeting them as conference,as then i asked them the possibility of working together on future projects, i told them we are seeking a partner for some joint venture project globally, and then i attached our company literature as a PDF file.
A:Oh,i know what happened then.
B:What?
A:This way we had a problem with computer system, any email with attachments7 didn't make it out the server. The companies you send the inquiries too, never receive the letters, you have to resend the whole lot .
